I figured with the weather warming up that I would post a quick and simple recipe for homemade ice cream (without an ice cream maker), easy enough that you can get your kids involved in making a nice treat. Whats great about this recipe is you can make several baggies at a time and store some in your freezer for later or have each child that's helping you make their own baggy of ice cream.
Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
What you will need:

Directions:
Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
What you will need:
- 1 large zipper top baggy
- 1 small zipper top baggy
- small bowls or cups
- spoons
- hand towel
Ingredients:
- 4 cups ice
- 1/4 cup salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- fresh fruit or other ice cream toppings
Directions:
- 1. Pour the milk, vanilla extract, and sugar into the small zipper top baggy. Squeeze as much air out as possible and seal the bag (make sure it is completely sealed.
- 2. Place the small zipper top bag down into the large bag. Cover with the ice and salt. Seal the large bag tightly.
- 3. Shake, toss, and flip the bags for about 10 minutes. If the bag gets too cold to handle, wrap it with a towel or pass it from person to person. Don’t open the large bag to check the ice cream because it may not seal properly afterwards, because of it being wet.
- 4. Open both bags and spoon the ice cream into small the small cups or bowls. Top ice cream with the fresh fruit or toppings of your choice.
Enjoy!
